The 10th edition includes changes to course content, course format and teaching methods with new updated MCQs, moulages and triage scenarios. The compendium of changes has been sent to ATLS® centres and instructors in April 2017 following the launch at the American College of Surgeons.
The long-awaited team training materials produced by the UK team of Dr Ros Roden, Hayley Allan and Mr Stephen Bush will be a new addition to the 10th edition. These include a stand-alone chapter, team training additions to existing clinical chapters, reflective exercises and a high-quality video shot and edited at the RCS.
ATLS 10th edition has two course formats:
Traditional three day course, with interactive discussions replacing all lectures, unfolding Scenario stations (Skills stations in the 9th edition) and moulages.
Hybrid course with eLearning modules replacing the lectures and shorter (two days) face-to-face element.
The ATLS Hybrid course is the only course format that the UK will be running and this will be from September 2018.
The course consists of two elements:
13 eLearning Modules that require completion prior to attending face-to-face days.
Face to face element, consisting of unfolding scenario stations and moulages.
